Bradley University Online FNP Programs

Bradley University offers online BSN to MSN and post-MSN certificate programs with a specialization in Family Nurse Practitioner. These programs are for registered nurses who wish to take either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) credentialing examination for the FNP specialty. The programs are delivered entirely online with no on-campus residency requirements. Students typically complete their clinical hours at a local site that has been approved by the university.

The BSN to MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Program

The BSN to MSN program is a part-time program consisting of 67 credits of online instruction and 750 hours of clinical practicum. This part-time program takes three years, or nine semesters, to complete, and students can enter the program at multiple points during the year. Courses that are a part of this program include Advanced Pathophysiology, Nursing Theories: Analysis and Development, Advanced Health Assessment, Health Informatics and Principles of FNP Practice.

Applicants to this program must be licensed and practicing registered nurses who graduated from a CCNE- or ACEN-accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. No GRE scores are required for admission. At present, this program does not accept students from Delaware, Louisiana, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee or Washington.

The Post-MSN Certificate Family Nurse Practitioner Program

The Post-MSN Certificate program is a part-time program comprised of 43 credits and 750 clinical hours, which students complete over the course of two years, or six semesters. Similarly to the BSN to MSN program, students can enter the post-MSN program at multiple points during the year. The curriculum for the program is very similar to that of the BSN to MSN program, with courses in Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Health Assessment and Principles of FNP Practice.

Applicants to this program must be licensed and practicing registered nurses who have obtained a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from a CCNE- or ACEN-accredited institution. They must have also maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during their MSN program. No GRE scores are necessary to apply. As with the BSN to MSN program, this program does not accept students from Delaware, Louisiana, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee or Washington.

The BSN to DNP Family Nurse Practitioner Program

The BSN to DNP Family Nurse Practitioner program consists of a minimum of 82 credits, as well as 1050 clinical hours divided across five practicums and two DNP Practice Seminars. Students complete the program over the course of four years of part-time study. As with Bradley University’s other online graduate nursing programs, the BSN to DNP program allows students to begin their course of study at multiple points during the year.

Courses that are a part of this program overlap significantly with those of the BSN to MSN program, including Advanced Health Assessment, Health Informatics, Principles of FNP Practice Acute/Chronic, Principles of FNP Practice Women’s Health, Principles of FNP Practice Children and Leadership in the Health Care Delivery Systems. Courses that are specific to the DNP program include Economic Markets: Competition and Monopoly, Data Management and Leadership in Advanced Nursing Practice.
