Georgetown University’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a CCNE-accredited online Master of Science degree in Nursing program for the following specializations: Family Nurse Practitioner, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Nurse-Midwifery/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. All of these advanced practice nursing programs accept students during both the Fall and Spring terms, and feature live lectures, small class sizes, and dynamic course content that can be accessed 24/7.

Applicants to Georgetown University’s Master’s in Nursing program must have earned a BSN or a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) degree from a CCNE or ACEN-accredited institution. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during one’s collegiate education is preferred. No standardized test scores are required for admission, though applicants should note that Georgetown’s online graduate nursing programs do have some restrictions in terms of the states from which they can accept students.

The Nursing@Georgetown Online Family Nurse Practitioner Program

Georgetown’s online Family Nurse Practitioner program is a MSN program that is comprised of 44 course credits, 650 clinical hours, and two on-campus intensives that feature hands-on training through high-fidelity simulation experiences, workshops and other activities. This program prepares students to manage the general primary care of individuals across the lifespan within the context of their families. Students can complete this program through either a full-time or a part-time course of study; the full-time track takes 19 months or 5 terms to complete, while the part-time program requires 27 months or 7 terms to complete. Classes in this program include Advanced Health Assessment Principles of Advanced Physiology and Pathophysiology Foundations of Health Systems and Policy and Primary Health Care of the Family I-IV.

Georgetown’s online Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program is a MSN program consisting of 40 course credits, 600 clinical hours, and three on-campus intensives that feature clinical simulation experiences, workshops, and program events for students and faculty to interact. This program prepares students to provide direct medical care and care coordination services to adult patients in acute and complex care environments.

At present, this program only offers a full-time track that allows students to complete the program in 23 months, or 6 terms. Classes in this program include Diagnostic Reasoning & Clinical Decision Making, Principles of Advanced Physiology and Pathophysiology, and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner I-III.

This program prepares students to take either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) examination for national certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

The Nursing@Georgetown Online Nurse-Midwifery/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program

Georgetown’s online Nurse Midwifery program is a MSN program consisting of 49 course credits, a minimum of 1000 clinical hours, and three on-campus intensives that allow students and faculty to interact through workshops, events, and clinical simulations. This program prepares students to take care of both women throughout their reproductive years and newborns, and is accredited by both CCNE and ACME.

At present, this program only offers a part-time track that allows students to complete the program in 27 months, or 7 terms. Classes in this program include Introduction to Women’s Reproductive Healthcare, Ambulatory Primary Care of Women, Principles of Advanced Physiology and Pathophysiology, Full Scope Midwifery Care I, Integrated Midwifery Care of Women, and Families in Crisis.

Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for both the midwifery certification exam provided by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) and the WHNP certification examination offered by the National Certification Corporation, which means that students who complete this program can become dually certified as CNMs and WHNPs without additional coursework.

This program prepares students to care for women across the lifespan in areas such as primary care services, prenatal and postpartum care, and general reproductive health care.

At present, this program only offers a part-time track that allows students to complete the program in 27 months, or 7 terms. Classes in this program include Primary Care of Women, Seminar in Advanced Women’s Health, Care of the Family, and Ambulatory Primary Care of Women.

Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the WHNP certification examination offered by the National Certification Corporation.
